Spanish wine exports fall by almost ten percent

2009 was not a good year for Spanish wine exports, according to figures from the Spanish Wine Federation FEV (Federación Española del Vino). Riojo Authorizes New White Grape Varieties

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and the Rioja Consejo Regulador have authorised several new international white grape varieties. Wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Verdejo, as well as the native Maturana Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco and Turruntés (not Torrontés) in future may be labelled as Rioja DOCa wines. Spanish Software Identifies Grapevine Cultivation

Spanish researchers from the universities of Léon and Santiago de Compostello have developed software that automatically recognizes vineyards on satellite photographs.
