2008 Albert Mann Riesling Schlossberg – France, Alsace, Kientzheim, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (12/10/2010) Lychee, melon, citrus fruit, slate-like minerals and a hint of honey on the still muted nose. Ripe white and yellow fruit, sweet honey, citruslike acidity, and slate on the palate. This is bit more fruity and sweet than the 2007. (91 points)

Fourteen communal appellations in AOC Alsace

The French Institut National de l’origine et de la qualité (INAO) may decide in November to recognize fourteen new municipal appellations in Alsace, reports the French newspaper Le Pays. The AOC Alsace will receive a similar pyramidal AOC hierarchy as AOC Languedoc. Topwijngaarden van onder andere de domeinen Weinbach en Trimbach in Elzas zijn vernield door hevige hagelbuien, meldt Decanter. Domaine Paul Blanck verloor zestig procent van de oogst in de grand cru wijngaarden Mambourg en Furstentum.
