2006 Dönnhoff Schloßböckelheimer Felsenberg Riesling Spätlese – Germany, Nahe (4/5/2009) Orange peel, citrus fruit, sweet honey, exotic spices and a hint of wet stones on the expressive nose. Ripe yellow fruit, citrus peel, stones, smoky slate, sweet honey and searing acidity on the intense, deep and long palate. Tasted after decanting. Impressive wine, only 8% alcohol, good qpr. 2007 Dönnhoff Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Großes Gewächs trocken – Germany, Nahe (11/4/2008) Slate, wet stones, ripe yellow fruit on the honeyed, enjoyable nose. On the penetrating and intense palate searing citruslike acidity, masses of ripe fruit, minerals and a distinct smokey element. Lingering after-taste. Very primary, but already enjoyable.
