Naar schatting een op de twintig flessen oude wijn die door veilinghuizen wordt verkocht is namaak. In de V.S. is de federale politiedienst FBI gestart met een grootschalig onderzoek naar namaakwijnen, zo wordt gemeld door diverse kranten waaronder The Independent.
