2005 La Spinetta (Rivetti) Barbera d’Alba Gallina

2005 La Spinetta (Rivetti) Barbera d’Alba Gallina – Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (11/9/2008)
Milk chocolate, blackberries, espresso, kirsch and spices on the subdued nose. Fairly balanced on the alate when you drink it on the cold side. Sour cherries, blackberries, dark chocolate, kirsch, good acidity, a slightly salty mouthfeel, rather suave tannins. I like it; it’s less over the top than other Spinetta wines when young. Should probably be drunk over the next few years (in good years these wines can withstand eight or more years of bottle age). (90 pts.)
