2006 Fratelli Alessandria Barolo Monvigliero – Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (3/16/2011)
Herbs (mint, rosemary) and hints of red fruit candy and red berries on the initially closed, but classy nose. On the palate red fruits (mainly sweet and sour cherries and strawberries), mint and still biting dusty tannins. Reticent, but promising. Let’s see how this evolves in the glass… The nose remains closed on the second day, but the palate is much denser and more complex, with no signs of oxidation, even if I kept it on the kitchen counter in stead of putting it overnight in the fridge as I normally do. Accessible now with extended aeration, but better to wait several more years… (94 points)
