2007 Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (10/9/2009)
Coffee, a bit of cinnamon, a hint of liquorice and a whiff of ripe dark fruit on the fresh nose. On the palate lots of ripe dark fruit, intermingled with sweet spices and refreshed by good acidity. Feels a bit diluted in comparison to most other CDP ’07’s I’ve tasted. More Côtes du Rhône than Châteauneuf-du-Pape quality level. But the price isn’t bad (about 18 euro in Europe). (89 pts.)
