French Consumers Refuse ‘Mixed’ Rosé Wines

French consumers do not care for rosé wines made from a mixture of white and red wine. The E.U. wants to allow such cheaper mixed rosé wines to better compete with similar wines from the new world. In countries such as Australia and South Africa it is allowed to make rosé wine by blending white and red wine. In France, rosé wine is made in the traditional way by limiting the skin maceration of red wine grapes. This is more expensive, but also makes more subtle rosé wines. In a survey 87 percent of French people say that they do not care for mixed rosé wine. Only 12 percent of the French say they will drink such wines.
