The Parish investigating judge Nadine Berthelemy-Dupuy is investigating a defamation charge against the influental American wine critic Robert M. Parker. The charge was filed by former Parker collaborator Hanna Agostini, who herself is facing charges for wine fraud in the court of Bordeaux. Agostini claims her innocence, in a fraude case centered on the bankrupt Belgian wine trader Geens. Parker allegedly commented on his website that Agostini “could end up stagnating in prison”, reason enough for Agostini to file new defamation charges against her former employer. A Paris judge fined Parker $2,820 in March 2008 after a first defamation charge by Agostini.
