2005 Clos Saint-Michel Châteauneuf-du-Pape – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1/27/2008) Red and black berries, fruit coulis and a hint of liquorice and black coffee on the nose. All this returns on the balanced palate, supported by meat, metal and a hint of kirsch. Good qpr. (89 pts.)

2004 Tenuta di Ghizzano Toscana Veneroso – Italy, Tuscany (1/30/2008)Vanilla, kirsch, minerals and black berries on the engaging nose. Lots of material on the palate, with sweet, voloptuous red and black fruit, penetrating acidity, coffee, chocolate and a clear mineral component. Rather long aftertaste.
