Albert Mann Riesling Schlossberg 2006

2006 Albert Mann Riesling Schlossberg – France, Alsace, Kientzheim, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (2/28/2008)
This needed three days to escape its closed shell. On the third day the nose remains rather closed, with a hint of lychee, honey and citrus peel. Sweet white and yellow fruits intermingle with a fair amount of citrus-like acidity and a bit of sweet honey; a slight hint of minerals is shining through. This is restrainted and needs a fair amount of bottle age. Tanzer says this grand cru has an austere character. Based on this bottle I would agree (’02 and especially ’03 of this wine were much less austere in their youth.) (91 pts.)
