In de zestiende eeuw was wijn “van alle kanten” (Alicante) één van de meest populaire wijnsoorten in de Nederlanden. Vermoedelijk ging het om wijnen van het type “Fondillón”, de historische wijnsoort van de streek, een hoogalcolische wijn van het oxidatieve type, die zowel volgens de Rancio– als volgens de Mistelas-methode werd geproduceerd. Ladera de Pinoso

Project van het Rioja-huis “Artadi” in de up-and-coming Spaanse DOC Alicante. Opgericht in 1999. Veertig hectaren, met een jaarproductie van 125.000 liters, verdeeld over twee rode Monastrell-gebaseerde wijnen, de topcuvée El Sequé en de tweede wijn Laderas de El Sequé. 2003 Château d’Issan – France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (12/14/2005)18:45 CET: Opened the bottle. 21:45: Black cherries on the nose, with some meat and leather. Nicely balanced palate, and very accessible now: not too sweet black fruits (cherries, berries), supported by refreshing acids and soft tannins. 2003 Château Troplong Mondot – France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (12/13/2005)16:45 CET: Opened bottle. 19:28: First try. Nose initially dominated by cloves, followed by impressions of jammy black fruit, iron, syrup … The palate is very expressive and surprisingly accessible for such a young Bdx. Château Montrose 2003

2003 Château Montrose – France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe (12/24/2005)Opened at 16:19 CET and poured a glass. Nose dominated by graffite and animal blood. Some spices. No noticeable alcohol.
