M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits 2005

2005 M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits – France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph (4/9/2008)
Beautiful delineated red and black berries on the nose with a hint of vanilla and a dollop of black coffee. Still a fair amount of tannins on the palate, but this has a lot of material: fruit, vanilla, balancing acidity, hint of minerals. Very young still. On the second day this was a bit more open, and more serious. This needs time in bottle, 3 to 4 year at least. A serious wine. (92 pts.)
