2003 Giovanni Almondo Roero Bric Valdiana – Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Roero (11/17/2006) Nice, very aromatic nose with black fruit, liquorice and nuts. Inititally closed on the palate, with hints of coffee, serious tannins and dito acids. Improves in the glass, when the black fruit becomes more prominent and the tannines better integrated; good fulling. Needs time. (91 pts.)

2005 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis – Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Roero (10/30/2006) Apple fruit, honey and butter scotch in de very aromatic nose (more aromatic than the Vietti Roero Arneis 2005). The palate is more restrained than the Vietti, with the acidity more dominating and less glycerol filling; nonetheless nice fruit and a hint of honey. (88 pts.)
