2009 Pierre Damoy Bourgogne – France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (3/1/2012) Lots of vibrant red fruits, with a backbone of forest floor, licorice and aromatic herbs. More integrated on the second day. Very good, even at the price level. (89 points)
2009 Pecchenino Dolcetto di Dogliani Siri D’Jermu – Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Dolcetto di Dogliani (3/9/2012) Black and red berries (raspberries, blackberries, sour cherries), exotic spices, cherry-like acidity… still young, only opened up on the second day. Much improved since last tasted. (90 points)
2009 Paul Jacqueson Rully Les Margotés – France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Rully (2/20/2012) Toast, ripe fruit and sweet minerals on the aromatic, very Burgundy-nose. On the palate this is fairly ripe, but the fruit is balanced by spicy citrus-like acidity and stony minerals. Classy juice; you pay a lot more for this quality level in more well-known communities. 2009 Château Fleur Cardinale – France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (3/9/2012) Bordeaux made in Chateauneuf or Napa Valley? Well, it’s mostly Merlot, so more Napa than CDP… It is well balanced, but has 15% alcohol (at least) and could’ve been made almost anywhere. 2006 Celler del Roure Valencia Maduresa – Spain, Valencia (8/15/2011) Ripe black berries and cherries and exotic spices on the enjoyable nose. Ripe black berry fruit, a distinct mineral component, sweet spices, refreshing acidity and hints of chocolate, kirsch and leather on the fresh, fruit-laden palate.
