  • 2004 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Vignoble de Vaulorent – France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (9/5/2009)
Wet stones, lemon peel, orange peel and ripe white and yellow fruit on the nose and the palate; has come around nicely, starts to drink well, much better than a few years ago. Blind I probably would’ve guessed Corton Charlemagne, because there’s a slightly exotic feel to the fruit. Definitely grand cru quality. (91 pts.)

Somewhat closed; previous bottle was better. Wait a year or two for trying another one. (89 pts.)

Melon and ripe apple fruit on the minerally nose. Palate has a good balance between ripe yellow fruit, lasersharp acidity and stony minerals. Rather ripe for a Chablis (lots of glycerine), but there’s enough acidity to give this character and potential for near term aging. Already enjoyable in its primary youth. Full bodied for a 1er. (90 pts.)
