Black berries, black coffee, spices and herbs, sweet tannins, refreshing acidity, good balance. Very good wine and a great qpr. Accessible now, probably better in a few years. 2005 Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu – France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (5/28/2008) Very clean and fresh nose of lemon fruit and peel, apple, pear and silex. 2006 Domaine Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre – France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (5/29/2008) Silex, smokey minerals and ripe white fruit (pear) on the engaging nose. Fairly ripe on the palate, with good, ripe white fruit, refreshing citrus-like acidity and unmistakably a smoke-like mineral component. Very classy, clean, balanced wine for near-time consumption. Volgens een nieuw plan van de Franse overheid zullen er in Frankrijk binnenkort nog maar drie wijnklassen overblijven: Vignobles de France (ter vervanging van vins de table), Indication Géographique Protégée of IGP (ter vervanging van vins de pays) en Appellation d’Origine Protégée of AOP ter vervanging van AOC.
