Marques de la Abuxarra Vino de la Tierra Blanco N.V.

N.V. Marques de la Abuxarra (Bodegas Cuatro Vientos) Vino de la Tierra Blanco – Spain, Andalucía, Contraviesa Alpujarra, Vino de la Tierra (6/1/2006)
The first time I’ve added a wine to the database with an appellation unknown to the system. Vino de la Tierra Contraviesa Alpujarra is a little known appellation in the neighbourhoud of Granada. It has 11,5% alcohol and a green white colour. Made from the native Vijiriega-grape. The nose is quite yeasty and spicy and reminds one of a Fino (in a good way, this is not oxidized, just a bit strange for a dry white wine). The palate is bone dry and again I get the impression of drinking a Fino or even a Manzanilla, for there is also some saltiness. Spicy, with no decernible sweetness. Very refreshing and a dry wine that will appeal to amateurs of Sherry. But this is only 11,5% alcohol, so you can drink more of it. Is a good food wine. Simple, but then again it is also cheap and quite tasty, if you like the style. (85 pts.)
